The Honda Africa Twin

A legend - no question - Between 1986 and 1989, the Queen of Africa won the Paris - Dakar Rally four times in a row, then under the name Honda NXR 750 V. This motorcycle has laid the foundations for a success story. The Honda XRV 650 (since 1988) has indeed a different engine than the Rally engine but has taken over their appearance. This motorcycle has become so established that from 1990 to 2004 a second version, the XRV750, was built. It was probably next to the GS series from BMW one of the most famous motorcycles in the world.

 

Then there was a very long radio silence at Honda. It took more than 10 years for the production of the XRV750 to be discontinued until there was a new edition of the Honda Africa Twin. But in 2015 it was finally time. The Honda CRF1000L Africa Twin. A strong 1000cc parallel-wing engine with 95, a lot of travel and the typical double light. But now there was the Africa Twin also with automatic transmission. Hold on ... an automatic transmission on a motorcycle? Yes! A dual clutch transmission in a bike. The DCT from Honda - to eliminate any doubt - is excellent! Just try it yourself!
